About Delhi Metro

The Delhi Metro is a mass rapid transit system serving Delhi and its satellite cities of Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Bahadurgarh. It is the largest and busiest metro in India and one of the largest in the world.

The network consists of multiple colour-coded lines with over 250 stations, covering a distance of more than 350 km. Delhi Metro is known for its cleanliness, efficiency, and punctuality, and is often ranked among the best metro systems globally.

Construction of the Delhi Metro began in 1998, and the first section (Shahdara to Tis Hazari on the Red Line) was inaugurated on December 24, 2002. Since then, the network has expanded rapidly in multiple phases.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) operates the metro system and is a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Delhi. The Aqua Line is operated by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), and the Rapid Metro in Gurgaon is operated by IL&FS.
